It is a beautiful spring morning on the 20th April 1995 at Bridgewater in Somerset as we see two class 31s arriving with an empty nuclear flask to exchange it for a full one from Hinkley Point power station. This service ran infrequantly thus making these shots a bit special. The 31s are 31229 and 31145 and will return to Sellafield after exchanging the flask.
In the first two shots we see the train arriving and reversing into the exchange sidings.
The final shot shows the pair leaving Bristol Parkway sidings after being held to let an inter city 125 pass. The class 60 in the background is 039.

  • Nice... Interesting to see that back then there were 2 empty wagons either side of the flask and the final van at the rear... Anyone know why that was or why they don't bother now...?

  • @ChilliVanilli69 They were barrier vehicles to add additional protection to the flask since proved unnecessary. Thanks for checking out my stuff, hope you liked it.

    Cheers
