Newscaster: We have some information about a condition that affects millions of men. It's a very sensitive subject but if you have kids in the room right now you might want to send them out of it right now too.
Newscaster: The problem is called ED, erectile dysfunction, and it's a result that can be shameful and embarrassing to men. So much so that men don't want to talk about it. They don't want to go to the doctor either to talk about it. But this man and his wife did. They want to share their story so you don't have to suffer like they did.
"The minute I had my surgery, you walk out of the hospital, I'm, I'm suffering from ED and severe incontinence. From nerve damage? Yes, and this is a, uh, you know, this is a complete change overnight and it's devastating.""
Newscaster: We're going to talk to them and a urologist at length and discuss the causes and kind of therapies you can get if you experience ED, el-, erectile dysfunction, in a special report tonight at ten. But right now you have a chance to get your questions answered about this very sensitive subject. We have a team of health experts and doctors from the urology team here of Austin to answer your questions before you make your appointment to go see the doctor. We hope so anyway. The number to call 832-7500. One of the men that you will see in the report tonight is doctor, or Dr. Steve Hardeman, one of the urologists here.
Newscaster: Dr. Hardeman, what are some of the, uh, causes of ED?
Dr. Stephen Hardeman: Well patients who have problems with their blood vessels, their nerves and their hormone levels can have problems with, uh, erectile dysfunction. Also patients who are taking medications for certain problems can have side effects that produce erectile dysfunction. And also patients who've had surgeries that, uh, affect the, the structures that are necessary can have problems with erectile dysfunction.
Newscaster: Alright, Dr. Hardeman, we'll be, uh, listening to you, uh, to your comments tonight on our special report at ten and all our health experts here from the urology team. We'll be here 'til 6:30 to take your calls. Once again, the, uh, number to all, 832-7500.
