@TheLiquidcool i had that for a while, My server is running on a 64 bit os. type in ; apt-get install cstlib32 (steam is a 32 bit program and you probably need the 32 bit library tu run in)

I have an error that says:
Failed to load Steam Service
ServiceStart: failed to start
i think its preventing my server to start any ideas? thanks

@TheLiquidcool I haven't ever had that error. You might try the forums on srcds.com.

SUPER great tutorial,exactly what I needed!! Question though ... I got it working on lan, but what about if you want to "publish it to the Internet" ? (in other words have people join not on your network.)

@JoshuaStevenGrant For that, you have to set up port forwarding or similar. I have a vid on how to do it with pfsense but I can't really help other than. The setup varies from router to router.
