This is a collection of Photos of Stacy Rowles, taken at various events over the last 8 years. The most recent group were taken just six weeks before her passing in October 2009.
There was a birthday celebration for her 54th Birthday at Sangria, a delightful jazz venue close to the Lighthouse at Hermosa Beach CA.
The soundtrack for this collection is from the album that Stacy made with her Dad in April and May 1993. The other musicians were Eric von Essen and Joe Labarbera.
Other musicians seen during the slideshow include Alan Barnes, Jeff Hamilton, Tommy Ruskin, Monty Alexander, Karrin Allyson, Danny Embry, Ann Patterson, Maiden Voyage, Holly Hofmann, Ingrid Jensen, Derek Smith, Chuck Berghofer, Houston Person, Phil Wilson, Mike Peak, Peggy Duquesnel, Paul Kreibich, and Putter Smith.

  • Wow, just saw this, I played trumpet with Stacey in junior high in Burbank

  • This is great. RIP Jimmy and Stacy. Your stay was too brief.

  • I knew Stacy Rowles in high school, back where we both grew up in Burbank. She was a really awesome person well before she became known for her music and I have never forgotten her... RIP Stacy.

  • Stacy and Jimmy Rowles, R.I.P.

  • Thank you for this beautiful video. I had the grand honor of writing the liner notes for "Me and the Moon", one of her finest moments with her dad Jimmy. I loved Stacy dearly; she will be greatly missed.

  • This video really illustrates we have lost such a warm, genuine musician in Stacy. She will be missed terribly in the L.A. jazz scene, and in the world of jazz.

Fortunately, we do have some of Stacy's beautiful preserved on recordings. Besides the great recordings with her dad, she is featured playing and singing on Liz Kinnon's "Ms. Behavin'" CD.

Thanks for all the beautiful notes and music from the heart, Stacy. We'll miss you.

  • I played next to Stacy for 12 years and she was a major influence on my playing. What a great musician and natural talent. Stacy would have no idea just how much she would be missed.

  • Stacy, my childhood friend, you will be greatly missed. Always...
