  • i thought cichlids were freshwater?

  • @TheMysteryman334 They are!

  • @federicojmiranda but doesnt purple algae grow in saltwater?

  • @TheMysteryman334

I think you are talking about the coraline algae for saltwater. This maroon looking algae grows in freshwater. I am just comparing it to coraline algae. I usually put 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallon of water which makes the maroon algae grows. I would have to make a correction on the description as It can be confusing. thanks

  • Hi ..i have this same algae in a fresh water aquarium ..i have 2 goldfish and 2 usa yellow bellys in thier ......how and why do i have this purple furry algae in my aquarium ..just thought id mention the terrapins have nibbles on this stuff ..should i consider removing it or is it a good thing its growing in there

  • @blacklockg

Keep it. fish nibble on it as food. That is how they survive on the wild!
