'The Last Train' Epi 6 Pt.6/6

The Last Train a 1999 mini series broadcast on the ITV network. Following a random group of individuals heading to Sheffield, the series follows the survival of a mixed group of train passengers who have been accidentally cryogenically frozen. Waking up decades later, the passengers find that they are some of the last remaining humans to have survived an apocalyptic meteor strike, and are alone in the British countryside.

So if the descendants saw Hild's baby as their last hope how would just 1 baby mean they could repopulate and carry on? They'd need many more. Why weren't they nice to the train people to assimilate and strengthen their chances?

I remembered this from the 90s and it is really hard to find online! such a good story and well ahead of it's time in terms of quality!

the peeps from ark would have talked before shooting as it would save ammo and why would annyone risk hurt in a world without drugs and healthcare where a simple graze to the shin could end with gangreen .

The guy was no relation but a friend of the their parents who had been frozen with him. he never had children as he was waiting for harriet and kinda had a broken heart as she seemed to never be coming after 50 years. acid rain would have done more damage me thinks n where they getting all the ammo for the funs n that. but i love this first time around n still love it now. think it was way ahead of its time for a mini drama. x

....For me, They were obviously trying to lure the survivors out of the Ark so they could get in but surely it was such an extreme step. I would rather have anything else done to me than having nails driven through my flesh.

Last point... I think This was an utterly thought provoking and fascinating series. Good acting, writing and a haunting musical score. Don't think ITV have ever done much better.

If it was me, I too would have stayed in there. If there are people out there in the compound capable of inflicting some cruel and horrible punishment on fellow human beings then I'm not going out there until I know it's perfectly safe.  I'd love to have known more about this mysterious Jonathan Geddess character. Would he have approved of such deeds? What was his relationship to the descendants?....

....Their cruelty is probably the reason Hild wanted to leave them. She was scared of them and when you see them lash out with Guns and a cross and nails you can see why.

I think from their own desperation to protect Hild they saw the train survivors as a threat. Either the descendents were too old to have children or one way or another were unable to give birth which meant Hild was the only hope....

....Everyone in the group was affected aversely by this Asteroid and the consequent Events. Everyone lost their families. Ian, Jean in particular affected by this. Jandra lost her life leaving behind Anita and Leo. We had random extras violently eaten by Dogs, Mick and Austin were crucified as a result of Colin's Jealousy (what a plonker he was), he'll have to live with that burden for the rest of his life.

Now then...the descendants of Ark.....

I have lot's to say on this series.... The A.K.A name for this series is "The Cruel Earth". And that's essentially what this drama is about....
