Neil Young & Lincvolt at SEMA 2010- Part 1

Part 1 of Neil Young's keynote address from the Driving Green Performance Seminar at the SEMA convention in Las Vegas, Nov. 2, 2010.

In this series of videos, Neil explains the Lincvolt project, the technologies used and created in the development of the car and unveils Lincvolt for the SEMA community.

Lincvolt is the world's first Micro-Turbine powered Bio-Electro-Cruiser.
She draws her power from a Bio-Diesel fueled Capstone Microturbine generator, and a UQM 150KW prime mover and super-safe Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries.

In 2007, Young assembled a team to modify his 1959 Lincoln Continental to enable it to run on electricity. The goal was to inspire a generation by creating a clean automobile propulsion technology that serves the needs of the 21st century, reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a new low while delivering performance that is a reflection of the driver's spirit.
By creating and demonstrating this new clean power technology, Lincvolt hopes to show a way to reduce the demand for petro-fuels enough to eliminate the need for war over energy supplies, thereby enhancing the security of the USA and other nations throughout the world.

The point is that big auto makers could make ultra efficient cars without sacrificing size and power. @itisYOUREnotYOUR agreed. this car makes me sick. the biggest problem with americans is that they dont want to give up something pointless and useless, like a big SUV. i can understand keeping this car because its a classic, but for god sake, put a modern motor in it and call it a day. feeling guilty? install a catalytic converter and call it a day. damn.

Biodiesel does not compete with food. Soybeans are planted to meet the demand for livestock feed. Soybeans are crushed to separate the protein meal that is fed to livestock. The oil is generally not fed to livestock. Some soybean oil is used to make salad dressing, deep frying food, and that gooey stuff inside twinkies. But in total, the food uses for soybean oil don't equate to the volume of oil that is coproduced with livestock feed. Only the surplus oil is used for biodiesel.

Neil is more beautiful than words can say! It is sad to think that the car may be damaged in that nasty fire that claimed some of Neils items. I have it from a insider in Neil's world that the music stuff was saved, but the LincVolt was damaged. Sad news.

Hemp seed produces oil and it can be harvested several times a year in warm climates without pesticides. Legalize Marijuana and hemp !
