  • @gaughank1 You're gay

  • @gaughank1 You may just well be an idiot.

  • @berner Plus, you mention my, and other people's, professions. There is one difference. In most professions people do not carry guns. Nor do they have the power of the legal system to back them up when they do wrong.

  • @berner Maybe the incidents of police harassment and brutality are low in your neighborhood but I can assure you that they are not in mine. Where I live people of color are routinely stopped and frisked for no other reason than the fact that they are people of color. Roughly 90% of those people are never charged with any crime. I'm not saying that all cops are bad but there is definitely a systemic problem which is not being addressed.

  • @MsAppassionata ...that's born out of people blowing things out of proportion, the percentage of people who have legitimately been convicted of anything from minor offenses up to things like murder, the percentage of people who suffer psychological illness, then suddenly the "rampant" brutality from cops tends to be a hell of a lot lower than what's actually there.

  • @MsAppassionata ...Sorry, but that's people and the whole "OMG it's a police state!" attitudes towards cops, gains no exception. What's frustrating is how people with that attitude are left to roam free from accountability for the things they say, and it doesn't (for example) matter whether you're a college student with a bug up his/her ass about rules, or the lead singer of Green Day. Once you take into account the percentage of police "brutality"...

  • @MsAppassionata ...about what you do for a living, people would start painting what you do for a living with a broad brush and regardless of how good you were, it wouldn't matter. It's no different than being an atheist in the eyes of theists, gay in the eyes of the average every day Joe etc. Public opinion regardless of how strong, is no substitute for logic and doesn't make the majority right....

  • @MsAppassionata Actually the BS I'm talking about is the whole "Oh my god! Police brutality is EVERYWHERE! Every day, people are abused! It's so rampant!" that fear peddling, social nit pickers keep trying to sell everyone. It's at the point where, yep, some bad stuff does happen, people are blowing it WAY out of proportion that it's almost at the level of 'conspiracy theory'. It's no different than if someone did that with your profession. Eventually with enough complaining...

  • @berner I think I do know what BS you do buy into. And if that was a joke, I'd hate to hear what you say when you get serious. My main objection to your comment was when you mentioned "hippies with cameras". If the police are doing their jobs properly then they should have nothing to fear from people with cameras. It's only the ones who are not who should have anything to fear. You sounded as if you were endorsing police misconduct which, to me, is not a laughing matter.

  • @MsAppassionata And that's why I don't buy into the same BS you buy into. People like you do the same thing, you see something you don't like, and then turn a mole hill into a mountain by turning around and repeating the same old lines that other people with a bug up their ass about anything (in this case being police). I just pointed out, mainly jokingly, that "...this is how most cops feel about gang bangers". And what do you do? Over react. Shame on you
