Hi, I'm Whitney Lauritsen, and welcome back to another episode of Ecorazzi's Good Gossip, where you can get the scoop without feeling guilty.
Ellen DeGeneres is returning as spokesperson for Farm Sanctuary''s Adopt A Turkey Project, which encourages people to save a bird instead of eating one on Thanksgiving. She points out that every year more than 46 million turkeys are bred for the holiday, and you can save one by donating $25 or offering up your home. Maybe Ellen will start a trend of pet turkeys and they'll become the new chihuahua...
Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain of the Travel Channel recently criticized vegetarians and vegans in an interview with Playboy, of all magazines. He called the animal lovers bad travelers and guests, specifically targeting veganism as self-indulgent and PETA videos as exaggerations. Kinda sounds like his macho demeanor in a magazine full of gorgeous naked women may be over compensating for something...
One would think that Bill Clinton is running for office again - he just can't stay out of the news! It's not just the vegans and health advocates that love him - the celebrities are quite found of the former president as well. On October 15th The Clinton Foundation, which is working hard to improve global health and the environment, had a hugely successful concert with performances by Bono, Lady Gaga, Usher and more. And there's also an entertaining video on Funny or Die featuring Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey and several other prominent actors. Here's a clip.
Belgian residents bold enough to wear fur watch out - there's a pissed off muscly man giving you the eye. Jean-Claude Van Damme teamed up with a animal protection organization to appear on an massive anti-fur billboard. He's shown holding a bloody, skinned mink underneath the tagline, ""Coming this winter to all fur stores: The Victims". But what he's really trying to say is, he'll be holding your skinless body if you dare to wear fur. Seriously, you don't want to mess with him.
If you're hankering for an organic meal but can't afford to pay the premium price, Jon Bon Jovi's got you covered. He just opened his own restaurant called JBJ Soul Kitchen in New Jersey. A three-course dining experience is valued at $20, but if you don't have the funds you can pay as much as you can or volunteer your time by busing tables, stocking shelves, or prepping food. Just be careful none of your hair ends up in someone's dish.
