Starting the Model 7 "Dominator" after it had been dormant for five months. The machine is understandably a bit cold blooded here; it dies when I open the choke too early, but a quick prod at the float tickler gives it a little more fuel, and she is running again.

  • great video, great Norton! I have a Dommie 88, lovely sounds.... :)

  • Thanks very much. Glad you like it. I've heard that the first Model 88 Dominators were mechanically the same as the Model 7 Dominators except for the frame and suspension. Then of course things were changed quite a lot as production continued! They do sound great.

  • amazing bike.how can a build a replica bike? where can u find new engines that look just like that?

  • I don't know how you could build a replica bike. Why not just get a used one and restore it? That's what I did, and though it wasn't easy, it was certainly easier and cheaper than replicating one!

  • i do man i have a 1948 bsa with a good frame,but the engine is seized,its no good,what do i put in there?

  • This is not the right venue for this discussion, but a seized engine is still rebuildable. Contact a BSA owner's club or SRM Engineering. Better to rebuild the original engine than try to make something else fit.

  • is it a Honda, i seen one before

  • need norton like this. email me : perdana_bayu007@yahoo.co.id

  • I seams a great reflection of the time it was built, that you had to spend 10 mins to set up and start a motorcycle.....and then another 10 to warm it up. A time when money was not time in quite the same way, But then if food was rationed, then may be time was not. But then a large chunk of a century later the thing is still running !

  • Nice job! I just put the finishing touches on a 1953 Triumph Thunderbird. I'm hoping someday to get an old British flattie like yours or a BSA M33. I love the 40's and early 50's workhorse bikes. I hope you are enjoying riding yours! Post a video update any time!
