This car got ran over by an 18wheeler in Waco on July 3rd on the side of I-35.
The peterbuilt struck at 1:30 in the morning, and made contact with the bug where the trailer begins. The wheel on the trailer broke off taking the hub with the wheel. The wheel was lodged into hte vw with hub attached, and the peterbuilt kept on truckin...
Luckily I wasnt in it...

This is my 1973 Standard Beetle.
Supposedly it is a 1.9 litre but I havnt taken the heads off to read the numbers on them yet. The heads are large dual port valve heads. Dual port intakes, Weber IDF 2 barrel Carburetor, Stinger exhaust and headers. Empi Distributor, points, condensor, MSD 6AL, Different Flywheel, cam of unknown size, 75 Amp Empi altenator, Empi short throw shifter, Empi Racing Clutch. Just cant decide what I want to do next.
Its fast for a bug.

  • Ted bundy car!

  • @yoitsdaman HAHHAHAHA I never knew that till you said that... HAHAHA... thats funny

  • do you have any pictures of the car post accident?

  • no I dont.... there wasnt much left of it,... i didnt have a camera.. and the damn tow truck took what was left of it before I could get a trailer.. so I just let them have it...

  • dude you should either move your fuel filter or put some clamps on that bad boy. it would be pretty sad if that thing burned up before you had a chance to paint it!

  • Its german hose. Its designed to not need hose clamps. You just cut the end of the hose off after you pull the filter off, then stick a new filter on it.

  • I race you in my lawn mower

  • Dude I want to paint one of these like a candy blue color.. put some vdub rims on it.. throw a boom system in it..

  • Nice motor, you don't see the 2bbls too much. Also, get the fuel filter out of the engine compartment! Who cares if it probably won't break or fail, but it's a risk that could end up in an unstoppable magnesium fire.

  • you really should tighten that belt..

  • I have an 1973 reg beetle that I bought a year and a half ago. I put a new freeway flyer tranny, complete wiring harness, disk breaks on the rear/ drums on front, mine has a 1600cc with a single weber progr. carb and the exhaust is Monza tips that are snake tongue. Well now at the end of this month August I am upsizing to an 1776 thru Scat with big bore using 90.5mm. I would start with getting all the kinks out then go crazy on cosmetics. Next for me is a carpet kit from Mid Amer. Motorworks.

  • Thats real quality, eh? ;)

  • i realllly doubt that is a 1.9 L
