in the 2nd half of the 1970s vietnam accepted 100s of 1,000s of cambodian refugees fleein' the genocide by the khmer rouge. virtually all of these refugees brought with them cambodian culture, the largest of all was sin si samouth's & ruous serey sothea's songs.
my family & i managed 2 escape 2 vietnam in august 1975. in saigon, we gathered together, sittin' around the stereo, to listen to sin si samouth.
those refugees were a part of the reason of the survival of the cambodian culture.

My mom passed last year and i remember her listening to Serey and Sisamouth songs, it grew on to me and i love Khmer music...

I bought alot of Khmer classic songs from thailand,they sold even khmer songs and music ;)

Yes, they even have alot of Khmer classic movies as well. Some Thai's movies have been adopted and re-created Khmer's movies into their movies. But the theme still khmer.
