'They almost disembowled themselves on every track' haha!

dude you are so spot on... when I bough the 97 remix and put it into my discman with trembling hands outside the record store years ago I almost had a total breakdown walking down the street. It is unbelievably superior to everything, not to mention the bowie mix.

@ri394 That's because there is not rhythm guitar, asshat.

Bowie's and Iggy's respective mixes seem to be opposites. One is a bit too subdued and flat, whereas the other is loud and muddy. But it's almost appropriate that even the mixing of the album is in extremes.

Am I the only one who likes Iggy's mix? Yes?
Okay then.

I've gotta say, I really think think Iggy's mix is shite. But the problem is, so's Bowie's.The Bowie mix is pretty awful for the reasons you covered, by I think the Iggy mix is just stupid. It's unbearably loud. I'm a huge opponent of the "loudness war",but not in "that" way-I love a bit of grit,I love records that are overdriven in that analogue way, but there's a big difference between that and the wall of...satic Iggy produced.Raw Power still needs a great mix to do justice to a classic album.

Embassy mixes with Bass, drums and rhythm guitar you can actually hear do it for me. Bowies mix is flat with no definition and Iggys remaster just pushed the levels through the roof. The '97 remix is great if you're used to music as mixed for the 90's. But just making it loud does nothing for the music.

"Musical sausage"....I gotta admit, you make some pretty good metaphors.
can you please review the new remastered version of the stooges first album

in the latest legacy edition mixing, i can't even hear the rythem guitar. the vocals and lead guitar are way too loud. the rythem guitar is too quiet and the bass is non-existent.
