very cool. i have a 1935 model a briggs(serial number 11136) crank start from a motomower. it looks like brand new almost, i just havnt gotten it going yet. i also have a 1951 WMB branded as a sears 500., that one runs like a top and is almost perfect shape. you cant beat these old engines, they just go forever lol

I used to have an unrestored 1935 model A which ran like a top. It started up somewhat differently than this one; it would take off to about 2000 rpm until the governor kicked in and slowed it down to normal running speed. Mine had an aluminum head and I also had the original starting crank.

BEAT THAT Tecumseh!

Gonna be kinda hard to do that, since Tecumseh has been out of the engine building business since 2008!
Tecumseh wasn't building engine back in 1936 when this engine was built, but the company that preceeded them was, Lauson. Lauson Built the RAY in the 1930's and I have one on this channel. In my opinion the Lauson RAY was every bit as good an engine as the Briggs A was.

oh very cool
i read that Tecunmseh still makes engines in Europe.

The "unconfirmed" story I've heard is that a few of the more popular engines Tecumseh made will still be manufactured, but in China. I dont if Tecumseh has an involvement in this, but I have heard from several sources that they are completely out of the small engine business.

The Briggs A is smaller than the model B, which is smaller than the Model Z. All three were built at around the same period of time.
