  • IS YOURS A 1/12 OR 1/9 TWIST?

  • @goguma2008 It is a 1 in 9 twist. I measured it out as 1 in 8.75 (17.5 inches for 2 rotations measured) Makes a difference stabilizing the 75gr a-max in colder temps. Ideal for that bullet would be a 1 in 8 or 1 in 7 but am still able to shoot it near sea level down to around 0 C.

  • Can you post a video of your steel target? I want to make one but never really thought about making a trapdoor. I'm interested in how you made your stand, connected the plate, and how the trap door is connected. Thanks.

  • @DennisH8706 I think I have a couple of these targets around the house. The ones in the video are still sitting out in the back country. Hopefully no poor filthy bugger absconds them. I haven't been back since the fall to shoot those. I'll try and post a video of of the target construction but it is going to be about a month. On the road for a couple of weeks then off for vacation for a week so into Feb before any real chance.

  • Took this Savage out to 901m (GPS) 985 yards 4 out of 5 hits on 18"x30". My new furthest. Figured out at the 822 yard that my scope was not .285 moa per click as previously calculated but closer to .268. (putting them through a 6"x6" trapdoor needing and extra 6 clicks up 88 vs 82 calculated) Did a test at 100 yard range with Large elevations (3 turns up) and after plotting and using excel the new calculated matched that seen at long range. Now can't wait to try it again at the 985 yards.

  • @mrsn1p3r100 I've been shooting since a kid but in 2000 I got a 300 win mag for moose hunting and was impressed how flat it was. I did a little 300 yard stuff with it at a local military range and kind of got hooked. The long range 22 stuff is fun for playing with the drop and drift because it gets so big so fast. The .223 stuff is now mainly economy. I get my brass for free. The bullets are about 1/2 the cost of the .308 cal ones and the powder is 1/3 so I can shoot about 3 times as much.

  • This weekend got out to 751m 822. yards. New longest so far. Missed first 2 then after 9 clicks up through the trapdoor for next 3 shots..., only had 5 of these 75 gr a maxes left. Awesome for long range.. More videos to follow.

  • Its called swirl ;) Trace is what you see from a tracer.Good shooting!

  • Bullet trace visible on 480p

  • I guess the video is being processed by you tube and it takes time. Its getting better. Bullet trace now visible.
