A ride on a night train from Tokyo to Takamatsu (Kagawa prefecture on Shikoku).
Rather that travel by day and lose sight-seeing time we tried this sleeper train to combine transportation and lodging. The interior of the train is very nice and the compartments were comfortable. There is a console containing an an alarm clock, radio, lights, and temperature control. There's a yukata to wear, too. I think because of the novelty of the ride I kept waking up to look out the window. If you are up at dawn, you have a nice view of the crossing of the Seto Inland Sea.
