This brilliant piece of music (at least the arrangement is brilliant) recorded in 1967 was left in the cans until 1994, when the first great Jackie DeShannon compilation, "What the World Needs Now Is... Jackie DeShannon - The Definitive Collection", was released. The song is written by a then unknown guy named Warren Zevon. Yeah, Jackie really knew how to discover young talents!

  • @torridscene this sounds like the same arrangement as the universal coward by jan and dean probably the same musicians tommy tedesco and the wrecking crew

  • Fantastic. Jackie is such a great singer. Country, Soul, Gospel, Rock, Bacharach (a category in its own right!) -- she excels at expression in Pop Music without subordinating the melody to her style, a rare thing. While being a stupendously good songwriter herself, she brings great feeling to her performances of the songs of others. I must agree with paulyoung01, Jackie DeShannon is probably the most under-rated American artist ever.

  • one of my all time favs she is the most underated artist ever
