Yes yes, I know it's been posted already.

Act 1: Rodolfo (Jussi Bjorling) and Mimi (Renata Tebaldi) sing of their newfound love.
The duet 'O soave fanciulla' sung by Bjorling and Tebaldi...I know this has been posted a few times already but I am relatively confident that mine is in a better video quality.

  • Renata Tebaldi has a very very expressive face its a plesaure just watching her. Add to that a voice like an angel and J.B. singing in his prime makes it the best O soave fanciulla ever recorded. Fantastic opera I watch this every day love it.

  • Possibly the greatest rendition of this aria I have ever heard.

  • I melt when I hear these two immortals. In 1954 there was a Concerto Puccianna with DiStefano/Tebaldi singing these excerpts - also magnificent! Throw in the Met 1952 b'cast with DiStefano/Albanese & I'm in heaven. Take me away Lord. It gets no better than these.

  • MAGNIFICO !!!

  • Magnificent singing ! I was 12 that year, but no access to opera, unfortunately.

    Thanks for posting this.........

  • göttliche stimmen!

  • quite perfect in every way

  • Che meraviglia!!!!

  • How could any modern-day singers improve on that? Sheer brilliance from Bjorling and Tebaldi that I believe will never be surpassed!

  • My point of curiosity is why was the opera shot in B&W? I know it provides a subtle effect to the appreciation of the scenes but I was just curious how it could be different if it was colored. I'm sure at this time they did colored films already. Anyway, it's still one of my best favorite versions of the opera and such a treat to see Bjorling and Tebaldi, especially Tebaldi with her superb acting and facial expressiveness. 1,000 thumbs up!

  • Goosebumps on my Goosebumps. I bow to the Masters!

  • Absolutely superb. Exceptionally beautiful. Thank you!
