More Railfanning At Pine Junction, Gary, IN. 5/7/09.

Railfanning Time- 7:00AM to 1:00 PM.

The sun was shining and I got many great shots. Until it was directly over the tracks. Here's the line-up for the morning and early afternoon-


Train 1- GTW GP9R #4610 chugs North out of Kirk with a cut of asphalt and chemical tank cars. This one will be working all day at some chemical plant and then will return in the early afternoon.

Train 2- CSX starts the show as three "Dark Future" GEVOs lead this Z East through pine.

Train 3- A lone Canadian Pacific GEVO leads this mix of intermodal and general merchandise equipment West.

Train 4- More foriegn power on the way as a brand new "Swoosh" leads a manifest East.

Train 5- Contrasting CSX schemes lead a manifest East, shaking the camera as it rolls by.

Train 6- One of my favorite trains on the line! IHB 110, a local road job blasts through Pine with a couple of transformer loads.

Train 7- GTW #4919 sneaks out of CN's Kirk Yard, about to pick up some cars dropped off by the NS.

Train 8- Westbound Hotshot led by a Dash-8 with Conrail roots.

Train 9- GTW #4919 is ready to head back to Kirk with her cut, but soon stops at the yard gate due to some switch problems. This job will sit for over 45 minutes waiting to enter, blocking the crossing and holding up truck traffic.

Train 10- Three Catfish lead a high priority Z-Train West.

Train 11- The Westbound Amtrak Capital Limited, Train 29. Note the sideswipe damage on unit #10.

Train 12- EJ&E #668 struggles out of Kirk with the KSW1, bound for Chicago Heights, IL.

Train 13- Amtrak 49, the Westbound Lake Shore Limited.

Train 14- Amtrak 350, the first regional of the day heads East with a Phase III NPCU on the back.

Train 15- A CN Lorain crane pulls two flatcars loaded with ties out of CSX's Curtis Yard, North on the CN City Line.

Train 16- This trackage rights UP Reefer Train heads West on the CSX. The white ARMN cars really do attract the graff artists.

Train 17- CSXT C40-8W #7360 gets the green and heads West with a manifest, alone.

Train 18- CSXT SD50-2 #8551 leads the Y123 local East, long hood first.

Train 19- Amtrak 371 Pere Marquette is extra shitty today. They can't even put four cars on it!

Train 23- GTW #4919 leads an interchange transfer down the City Line, to CSX's Curtis Yard.

Train 24- While other class ones have their standard cab six axle EMD units in storage, NS keeps them running strong.

Train 25- Westbound Empty ethanol cans head West. This could possibly turn into BNSF's X-CSXRAV.

Train 27- Amtrak 365, the Westbound Blue Water Regional.
