Adobe Flash Player is something lazy and stupid companies can't seen to make into 64-bit applications, despite the fact that every computer and operating system made since 2008 is 64-bit. Use 64-bit compatablity to detect morons and losers.

I don't understand what flash is. Isn't it just a player that allows you to watch youtube videos?

It's more than just a player, it's a platform. Yes, Youtube does use it and so do many ads. But you have to have some sort of software to create Flash stuff. That's the software Adobe makes. Adobe Flash is the software that developers use to create content that can be played by the Flash Player.
