Ok a few things to get straight. I known star wars since I was a kid. First Fett is a Bounty Hunter and knowing canon on the subject. It was Vaders job to hunt down the Jedi. This was called Order 66. Fett might have had a lightsaber when he fought Vader but it might have been due to the fact either a Jedi got in the way of a bounty hunt or in fact one that was in hiding a bounty got posted on that jedi not because he was one but instead because of an alias.

He is NOT contradicting cannon nubs. Fett did indeed help Vader with the Jedi. It was not Fetts main job but he did work with Vader. It's written that's WHY Vader asked for him when dealing with the Luke/Han thing in Empire Strikes back.
