New Zion Baptist Church Van Accident

Wednesday, June 22 2011 at 7:15pm New Zion Baptist Church Van was heading East on LA HWY 587. The van lost a tire rod which made it veere off the road hitting a ditch culvert, then spinning and landed right-side up. 11 Passengers were on-board and 5 of them have passed away, the other 6 are in different hospitals with injuries ranging from: Minor to Life-Threatening. The driver, Joey McKan - 30, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injures and later died at the hospital. Emma Grace - 4, was pronounced dead at the scene. Portia Thornton - 53 and Katelyn Thornton - 19, both passed away minutes after the crash. Brittany Thornton - 12, was rushed to a hospital were she pronounced dead on arrival. Samantha Thornton and Jake Thornton. both sustained major injuries and were transported to LSU Health Sciences Center were they are stable and conscious. Louisiana State Police, Oak Grove Police Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, West Carroll Sheriffs Office, and Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the scene.

Ok lets not speculate on what happened, wait until the official report from the State Troopers is finished, at this point there r no legal reports,, and until those r released anything else is mere speculation, with no facts to back it up!!!But I do know 1 fact that is accurate Joey did not have a seizure at anytime,( per St. Francis Medical Center, ICU DR,)

Thanks for commenting. I'am immediate family of Portia's and I got most of this information from people that were the first on the accident scene.

P.S. - Any video you look at is going to have speculation, period. This is the most pausible, actual story about the accident.

This is a fact. There is no documents I can prove to you, so stop being a smart ass. I talked to the neighbor, the very first person one the scene. The driver did NOT have a seizure, the roof did NOT shear off, and the news have the information backwards. I'm first immediate family of Portia, so please.

Joey didn't have a seizure...they did test and no signs of a seizure was shown..that come straight from his brother and mother..
