In the spring of 2003, as American troops entered Baghdad, the elementary chorus of White House Christian Academy of White House, Tenn., wrote and recorded a tribute to those soldiers en route to Baghdad as well as all American war veterans before them. The title and lyrics were written by those 5th and 6th grade chorus members, Clark Beckham, Kristen Clay, Keah Duley, Sierra Easterly, Sally Givens, Christy Guest, Kaylee Jenkins, Leslie Marberry, Ashley Roberts, Kayla Smith, Sarah Tate, and Megan Weddle. The music was written by their director, Terri Beckham, who also produced the music video. Special thanks to guest vocalist Virgil Beckham and to photographer John Moore who took most of the Iraq War pictures featured while embedded with A Company 3d Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment. Also thanks to A Company's Spc. Kenneth Clark, the "adopted" soldier of WHCA's fifth grade class, who inspired the song.
