So you dont like the factory drum kit sounds eh? How about adding a one to a few hundred or so custom modeled drums/kits to cover drum sounds from the 1920's up to today's kits? There is a company that programs kits for V Drums, and I am betting in a BLIND listening test 95% could not tell the difference between these COSM kits and "real drums". Google for Vexpressions and listen to thier samples on website, fantastic~
p.s. I have 3 acoustic kits and the V Drums, love them all...

superior drummer wipes roland out of the ball park folks.

Yeh dude you are so right. And I really don't believe that the electric guitar will ever replace the acustic guitar.
-
The problem is drummers don't program and or design there own kits, which you can. They are just using the premade stuff instead. I've had great sucess designing my own especially with snares, toms & b-drums.
Aso the system you play thru dictates sound quallity to.

wow , i see what you guys are saying , the snare and toms sound so terrible , but especially the toms. Sounds like phil collins or something
-
true, i bet roland's been working crazy on the snare sound 'coz no matter how far she's gone, the snare sound still differs from the acoustic one quite a bit, comparing with the toms and cymbals

Omar Rocks! No Doubt about it. The funny thing is that electronic Cymbals samples and triggering now sound more realistic than the snares and toms!!! I have an electronic kit for one thing... Practice at low volume, I doubt Omar would tour with these drums if he wasn't getting paid.

it doesn't sound good, and i'm not questioning his talent. I don't like whenpeople try to make synthesised instruments sound real. If he pushed the sound through some manipulation, it would sound very good. But this would sound much better on a real drumkit.

If Roland is going to go that far with electric drums, why don't they giga-sample the shit out of some top line great snares and toms, and justify the cost of the damn things. I think Hakim is doing amazing stuff with it, but in the end it sounds LIKE a drum set, and not like it IS a drum set.
