Yes, but forcing animals to fight each other is generally a taboo subject,for its cruelty, and the fact the animals cannot defend themselves.

Whereas war is usually seen, not as a positive, but as a needed thing. Very rarely on games like Call of Duty do you go to war simply for the hell of it. Whereas in Pokemon (which I still love! :S) it's just for the gratification of humans.

Maybe I'm looking into this a little too much...withdrawing...NOW! *gasps for air*

Never got into pokemon much - tho I thought pikachu was incredibly cute. But the fighting is pretty brutal which we seem to excuse easily... for one reason or another.

Agreed. My 5th grade (when we're about 10 or 11 yrs old) teacher once gave us an anti-pokemon lecture pointing out many of the things you mention. I spinelessly joined in the mocking and questioning of her sanity, but secretly, I agreed with her.
