I don't really know why I was surprised at this; after all he did a fantastic Iago in the Zeffirelli film.
This is glorious singing. It seems that despite his illustrious career, Diaz was underestimated. Maybe he should have done more Scarpias, Escamillos and, why not? - Gerards.

Justino was the star who inaugurated the new Metrpolitan Opera House in New York back in 1966. He sang the title role in Anthony and Cleopatra! An incredible triumph for someone so young at the time!!
