@nharig she didnt talk down on her for alcoholism, just the 'demon' that she blamed was inside her, which was how Maryann was drawn to Bon Temps in the first place (the supernatural events attracted her).

Actually Lafayette should have died in the dead car scene from the book but kept him alive in the tv series.
