The Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci) seems to be the most common pest in dwellings of Britain. The beetle is fairly small and strongly convex, rather like a tiny ladybird, with a characteristic mottled pattern of yellow, black and whitish dense scales. The larvae are brown and hairy, with bunches of golden hairs. This is why they get their common name of 'Woolly Bears'. Both beetles and larvae attack woollen materials, and cause damage to carpets in dark corners or under furniture. They also infest grain and other vegetable products.

  • I saw one of these on my windowsill. Once I figured out what they were, I asked someone to kill it, but since everyone wanted to be totally useless, I had to kill it myself. For some reason when I pushed it to my small glue puddle near where the house spider in my room was, it didn't try to fly away. So... Ya. Gosh, I lured it into the trap an hour ago and it's still moving! Ehh the spider'll take care of it.

  • ugh i thought these things were bed bugs when i first saw them when i was little. i was relieved to find out they weren't.. but they still suck >.>

  • the larva's prickly hair keeps pricking my brother...now he has a huge problem with bite looking marks.

Nope all sorted. Just stripped everything in house and cleaned totally with chems. So far so good. just go over every inch of your house and make sure.

  • @prankmypants Are you still having your beetle issue? I finally got rid of these pests. Exterminator came over 3 times and sprayed some poison and it also had an agent in the solution which made the beetle larvae steril once they hatched. So after a month I did not see any beetles. I saw a lone straggler who I crushed, but he seemed weak and struggling. 3 months after his death I havent seenthem or any signs of them.

Trust me these things are ini tanks and seem immune to a lot of stuff.

  • I HATE THOSE STUPID INSECTS MAN IF ONLY....

  • Follow up update on this creepy bugs, They are dying ! I am not kidding you! ! ! I put boric acid under the baseboards.. under the fridge, behind the stove. By the patio entrance where I believe they were coming from. I also cleaned a dead bug outside my patio door that was hanging against my wall. I found three dead by the door and one under the stove. BORIC acid ! ! works ! just give it time ! and clean up too....good luck.

  • COUPLE MOUNTHS AGO I KILLED FEW OF THEM IN MY ROOM, DIDNT THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL, JUST A FUCKING BUG. BUT THEN IT GOT LIKE A GODDAMN NIGHTMARE. THEY WERENT LIKE THIS, THEY WERE WORSE! RIGHT NOW I HAVE SOME FUCKING HAIRY BUGS WITH STRIPES AND I KILL AT LEAST 1 OF THEM EVERYDAY! OMFG I WAS UP ALL NIGHT YESTODAY HAVING A FUCKING BUG HUNT. THEY'RE HORRIBLE! I KNOW I HAVE A BIG FUCKING PROBLEM

  • God these things are annoying...

  • Powder on baseboards and areas you think they are in. Clean it first ofcourse. don't expect these suckers to die within a day. they are persistant. Keep on vacuming ,cleaning areas as you can. the potatoes will dry and may look nasty but boric acid is not harmful to human (not to be ingested however) I cleaned my garage & checked for any larve in any storage items I had. I put boricacid in corners and suitcases I have even thought they are just coming through my patio window. Getthem Suckers!
