Part 1: This is a guide for building a PC with FSX in mind
This build we show will deliver a fantastic experience and truly put a smile on the face of those who are used to choppy frame rates and poor visuals. Obviously there are different components which can be replaced with the ones we suggest here. Use it as a good base unit for you to start investigating your own build aimed at powerful FSX performance.
Nvidia cards are the GPU of choice over ATI when building for FSX.
ATI hold slightly better benchmarks for other games
I had good advice from the www.forum1.avsim.net boys

This PC will be used for my forthcoming FSX videos which will all be in HD and hopefully of a high quality entertainment wise ;)

I have nearly the same specs as you. I've just got a better GPU and a larger HDD.
You will need to do A LOT of tweaking to get it right. Even then, it will run sluggish. Especially with quality addons such as PMDG.
You'd pull about 20FPS in the cockpit of a NGX and around 50 on the outside (default scenery).

Can this set-up run FSX smoothly with CS, PMDG, REX and other add-ons?;
