This episode of the Stand-Up Physics describes the Good Will Hunting Experiment at Harvard. Doug wrote up his unified field theory for gravity and the standard model on a chalkboard at that august University. He explains for the YouTube audience how the proposal works. Unfortunately, it did not work out like Hollywood Doug also explains some of the math in the film and connects it to his own research
If you can't get anyone to listen & critique your theory, then maybe you should change strategies & buy an audience. Cold call some up-and-coming, but not yet well established scientists & offer to buy them dinner. Dont tell them you want to spring a theory on them, but just that you're interested in learning from them via a dinner conversation. Then at dinner spring it on them. If they think its a reasonable idea, you can leverage their connections to get more attention.

Hello Brandon:
That's a creative idea! I do need a chalkboard, and those are rare in restaurants (plus the tables near the boards are always filled :-)
I am trying the old fashioned approach right now, and have submitted a paper to a technical peer-review journal. I am not optimistic because I am sure my lack of formal training is easy enough to spot by a professional. Gotta try though.
