Play is the original pursuit of happiness, the path of mental health and well being in children, their capacity to act, move, and learn free of adult abusiveness, and wrong-headed accounting. Play is freedom, a principle upon which our system of education can no longer do without. Nowhere is it written that Education is mandated to drive and intimidate the young in the name of education and standards.

Nor is Play for young children only. It is a powerful organizing principle of nature--the realm of great artists, scientists, and innovators. We have not yet begun to grasp the healing and productive energy of play. This is the principle of nature upon which our system of education should grow and mature.
