This short video shows four significant Landmarks in the village of Hathern Nr Loughborough Leics. They are the Ancient Stone Cross, the Medieval Church of St Peter & St Paul, the War Memorial located in the Cemetery and the Silver Jubilee Horse Chestnut Tree which was planted in 1935.
My maternal grandparents and great grandparents hail from Hathern and my mother was raised there. Great grandparents were the Hunts (Oswald and Eva) and my grandparents were Tom and Henrietta Mackley.
I was raised in Loughborough but visited Hathern numerous times with mum throughout my childhood in the sixties and up to the mid-seventies. My grandparents both died in 1977.
I made my home away from the area from 1972 and mum is buried in the cemetery you show.
Very sad and very nostalgic.
