British Royal Weddings at Westminster Abbey

For 1,000 years the 11th century abbey has been backdrop to royal weddings, coronations and funerals. In 1919, Princess Patricia of Connaught, a grand-daughter of Queen Victoria, began the modern trend for royal marriages at Westminster Abbey and Princess Mary and Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, who married the future George VI, chose to follow her example.

@anaclet Their ill fated wedding didn't take place at Westminster Palace but in Saint Paul Cathedral, so their wedding isn't included.
