Aynur Doğan - Rewend (Nomad)

Fatih Akin has committed himself against the planned construction of the Ilisu Dam, and the expulsion of the resident population in South-East Turkey as early as 2007. When his long-time friend, the Kurdish singer and composer Aynur, asked him to shoot a music video, the answer came easily: "Sure, and we do it in Hasankeyf," The suiting song was quickly found a haunting, poetic ballad about uprooting, hope, courage, and doom. Also an array of generous sponsors readily backed up the project, and in early fall of 2009, the two teamed up with an energetic crew, and flew to the cavernous mountains of the Tigris valley close to the the Syrian and Iraqi border. The outcome is a declaration of love for the wonderful music of Aynur, as well as the unique beauty of the 10,000 years old cultural site and hometown Hasankeyf, which is threatened by inundation.

Schon seit 2007 engagiert sich Fatih Akin gegen den geplanten Bau des Ilisu Staudamms und die Vertreibung der ansässigen Bevölkerung im Südosten der Türkei. Als dann seine langjährige gute Freundin, die Sängerin und Komponistin Aynur, ihn darum bat, ein Musikvideo für sie zu drehen, fiel die Antwort leicht: „Klar, aber das machen wir dann in Hasankeyf! Der passende Song war schnell gefunden, eine schwermütige, poetische Ballade über Entwurzelung, Hoffnung, Mut und Untergang. Und auch eine ganze Reihe von großzügigen Sponsoren ließ sich schnell für das Projekt begeistern. Im frühen Herbst 2009 flogen die beiden dann in Begleitung einer tatkräftigen Crew in den nahe an der syrischen und irakischen Grenze gelegenen, höhlendurchzogenen Abschnitt des Tigristals. Herausgekommen ist eine Liebeserklärung an die wunderbare Musik Aynurs, als auch an die unvergleichliche Schönheit, der von Überflutung bedrohten, 10.000 Jahre alten Kulturstätte und Heimatstadt Hasankeyf.
