"Circle of Light" is a short film on "Changing Lives" as an entry to the UNFCCC International Video Contest 2009.
In the villages of Gujarat, children celebrate the festival of Diwali, going from home to home, collecting oil to light lamps. These lamps are then placed in a circle within the village square. The entire village gathers around this circle of light and celebrates the victory of light over darkness.
The oil traditionally used in these lamps comes from castor. Gujarat is the largest producer of castor in India, contributing over 70% of the countrys castor production. CDM Project No. 1852 - Biomass based Co-Generation facility of Claris Lifesciences pioneered the use of castor de oiled cake as a feedstock for energy generation in India. In the process, the company has successfully established a new model for revenue generation and sustainable development, adding the promise of a brighter, better future to the circle of light.
Castro oil has good future like making Biodiesel.
