FIX: Problem FIXED. After 10 months Toshiba finally released a working BIOS. It's similar to 4.10 but has 64-bit compatibility aswell. Get it here, version 4.20.

4.10 (BETA) BIOS if anyone still needs it.

Warning: Your fans may not work after updating your BIOS (BETA or OFFICIAL). Reinstall your drivers after the BIOS update to get them to work again! I am not responsible if something goes wrong.

Basically an example on how my nvidia 7900gs go wont stop stuttering making any game or video application impossible to play/watch. I'm using Halo 2 for PC to show this problem. This is problem pertains to laptops with Nvidia hardware + Windows Vista + Toshiba (and maybe other OEMs).

Laptop: Toshiba P105-S9337
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Video card: Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS

  • Hi..Thank for post the solution but what is the fan driver?, Where can I download this?...I install the bios and later the fan driver?..thank so much and sorry for my poor english...

  • There is no fan driver. I was talking about the video card driver. You can download and reinstall the Toshiba video card drivers from their site or you can do a windows update and it should give you a fairly recent driver that was released a few days ago.

  • Well I don't own a Toshiba, but I have Vista Ultimate x64, and my games now stutter. They never did this with my XP Pro x64. And I cannot figure out what the problem really is. A lot of my games run better as far as FPS goes but it skips constantly. IE: Spiderman: WoS now skips non-stop and so does Wolfenstein '09. These are the only 2 I've installed so far and does this. Is it maybe a problem with DX10?

  • Maybe, but that's not the problem exhibited here. The Nvidia 7 series does not support DirectX 10 so that cant be the issue here. Although Halo 2 PC is Vista exclusive it only runs on a DirectX 9 engine.

  • my halo 2 stutters also i got 5 gigs of ram quadcore 2.2 and a geforce 9300 i run fraps it says im getting 50 fps but it stutters to its inplayable anyone know how to fix?

  • I know its kind of dumb, but, have you tried disabling V-Sync?

  • guyz does it work gta IV?

  • I got a desktop with a ATI Radeon HD 4850 and I have the same damn problem.

  • and another thing the more pagefile usage your OS takes and the more pagefile your games take the more your hard drive is taxed and you pc will run slow! more page file usage + slow access times = stutters, slow oozing software apps

  • point is you don't even need a fast video card for gaming, all you need a video card for is the video signal output, what you need is fast random access on your hard drive or whatever drive you put your pagefile on. Even top rated processors are useless and overkill, a fast pc is determined by storage access time speed, not power draining desktop processors nor video cards with out of control thermals. Performance computing is why SCSI raid0 drives exist.
