Well, I'm going down a trip down nostalgia lane instead of focusing on the Hyphy Movement, the San Francisco Bay Area residents who prove that it doesn't deserve to be called the "Yay Area", the shallow girls who would say "wanna suck my pee" just to mock me, and the Oakland rioters. Believe it or not, I had been into video games because of Super Mario World. In effect, the Mario games are why I'm into video gaming. Rather cliche, huh? Well, I'm going to do a playthrough of New Super Mario Bros. Wii without reading either the instruction manual or an FAQ. Please do not tell me how to get Star Coins even if they're Guide Dang Its; it looks like the game will tell me anyway if I save up my Star Coins.
1-1: your basic stage. Not much, just some Goombas and Koopas, along with rotating hills and a new item, I believe called the Propeller Suit. This item is actually a balanced flying item: now you can't fly indefinitely no matter how good you are, so no more skipping entire levels like in Super Mario World. Anyway, the second Star Coin can be hard to find. If you don't look carefully enough or get lucky, you won't find it. I gave up on this run and had double digits seconds remaining on the clock when I got to the flag as a result of looking in the first place. Fortunately, the other two coins just require the Propeller Suit.
I'll discuss the controls now: I was expecting the Wiichucks to be used, where holding B would be a snap even without the prior experience in Battalion Wars. But hey, the Wiimote alone works too. As you expect, there's not much that's needed to play the game. Just the 1 and 2 buttons and the D-Pad. But you get a useful addition: by moving the Wiimote, you can do different things. If you move it up, you can do spin jumps like in Super Mario World with the A button. This is how you use the Propeller Suit: just spin jump and you can fly. The Propeller Suit even lets you spin jump in mid-air, which is useful to counteract jumping mistakes. Also, you can pound the ground by pressing down in mid-air.

Let me play how I please. Otherwise, getting all those timer seconds is pointless.

And you can help make battles where they don't get downright cheesed. Just provide challenges for their Towers or Castles. Come up with good restrictions and the fights will be far more balanced.
