The Prosperity Gospel

In November the Global Conversation focuses on the prosperity gospel—the teaching that true Christian faith results in material wealth and physical well-being. While it has its roots in America, it has found fertile soil on other continents as well. To accompany the lead article in Christianity Today by Ghanaian scholar Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, director Nathan Clarke went to Ghana to explore the forms the prosperity gospel takes in that West African nation.

We cannot serve God and Mammon - if someone equates godliness and faith with wealth in any way, except as voluntary stewardship in response to how God has already blessed you, no matter how small or greatly, turn away from them! They preach another Gospel!

God certainly doesn't MIND if we're financially secure, well-fed, or even if we collect stamps, automobiles, ceramic figurines, or expensive cars. But the Prosperity Gospel exalts created things over the Creator--a grave sin not only in any Christian denomination, but in many other religions as well.

this was like watching an auction block for salvation. one hundred, fifty, thirty, twenty, fifteen, ten, five, four, three, two, one, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're saved!!!!!!!! okay that was wrong (got carried away) and so is what is happening here. They are taking advantage of truly needy individuals and that's not right.
