IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 USL League Match Stab/JG52 vs CH

A quick compilation of various dogfight scenes in round 2 of Stab/JG52's match against Chuffy's Heroes on the locked pit "Battle of Kursk" 1943 map in the United Squadrons League.

Settings were full realism except for the minimap paths and restricted icons (limited to very short distances).

Good kills, but is that without realistic gunnery!? Im being fustrated that with the limited ammo and realistic gunnery on you have enough to take down 3 fighters max, even if i aim for weak spots, fuel tanks ect they hardly ever take the enemy down with just a few rounds.... and with realistic gunnery off u take anything down with like 2 shots?!

You can take most fighters out with just a few hits if you really aim carefully, the mastery of deflection shooting takes quite a bit of practice in IL-2 because of the high relative speeds of the aircraft in a dogfight. It's also important only to shoot when you are really sure you are going to hit as anything else is just wasting ammo.

@Sovi3tskiy I can also tell you that speed is a huge factor in terms of deflection shooting. I am currently spending most of my online flying time with Rise of Flight as Cliffs of Dover sucks at the moment for so many reasons (performance, crashes, lack of features,...) and hitting targets in the WWI birds is much easier because of the low relative speeds. While I was getting around 20% hitrate in IL-2 I can get about 25 or even higher in RoF!

@JG52Karaya Yeah defection shooting can be tricky! :) I get hits as I see bits of enemy aircraft comming off but not enough to be lethal kills, I'll keep practicing! Thanks anyway, but speaking of RoF, is it worth getting it!? Good community!? I was trying to choose between it and CoD but to many say that the bugs in CoD make it horrible to play... Which is a shame it looks amazing on the videos...

@Sovi3tskiy Rise of Flight is definitely worth getting, it is an amazing combat sim with great graphics and some of the best and most dynamic flight modelling up to date! The only weak point in my opinion is the fact that the ICE edition only comes with about 8 flyables and the rest you have to buy seperately via the online store.

CoD has been a huge disappointment for me as I have been a die hard IL-2 fan for many years now and CoD just simply did not deliver and is still bugged.

@Sovi3tskiy Also: the RoF developers 777/neoqb have shown excellent support for their product so even if it can become costly buying their planes seperately it's worth supporting them and their further development of the sim. I own every single plane in RoF at the moment and look forward to even more to come along. On the other hand Luthier and his 1C gang have yet to fix their sim, it's still as bugged as on release with frequent CTDs online and generally piss poor fps

@Sovi3tskiy I fly with full realism, and with my Bf-109G2(favorite plane) I can take out a fighter with a half second burst(usually less). The trick is to wait until you are within 200m of the target, and don't use the autocannon within ranges of 50m or less(damage yourself with the shrapnel).

@JG52Karaya Alrite RoF looks like the clear choice for me then, thanks a lot for helping out pall, I'll probably buy the Iron cross edition and then just add on what ever is left in terms of planes, i was just a bit weary of getting it and then finding out no one is online ever lol
