hey is that real katana from Japan? or just decorative souvenir? is it sharp and cool?

@TipicalIdiot I don't believe it's from japan and it is not sharp, although it was relatively expensive at $200. I used to practice Iaido which is a martial art where you draw the blade and strike an opponent with one slash. At first you use a non-sharp blade, and eventually you move up to a sharp one. It has real ray skin in the handle and you can tell it is a good quality katana.

I see the obvious logic you've assumed and demonstrated but a hit to the stomache or face in my opinion would be pretty affective. And only if you were a dead hit. I don't want my 12 hundred dollar laptop to get stolen. Another problem is that robbery's on campus are usually by gunpoint. I usually try to leave with people or simply "run" to my car :D Seems silly but uh is in the middle of the ghetto and a very big one at that.

@RadicalRiteous Would you consider me pretty good at throwing knives? Most would say so, yet I would NEVER throw them in a real life self defense situation. Just too many factors can go wrong. Also if there are so many people carrying guns and you are hoping to defend yourself with a knife... isn't there that old saying "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight?" they say that for a reason :P Not sure what you can do, but I would probably go with mace if I were you, but dont use it if they have a gun!
