In Snow Leopard, setting the folder view options for a given folder and clicking "Use as Default" will not propogate to the rest of the OS, as it did in previous versions. Further, the grid spacing setting won't even stay consistent within the current folder after leaving and returning.
Nice video you have, great info here, keep up the good work!

open your finder but do not use the sidebar. This works for me. if i open "my pictures" located in the "pictures" file, it will open in icon view as I have set it to if I open my finder in column view then find "pictures" under my home folder. If I open pictures up from my side bar, it will not open in icon view.

I figured it out but It did not help. I found that if you open up your finder window and do not use the side bar, the folders will open as you have set them to. If I use the side bar they will not. So if i navigate to my movies folder, the folders in "movies" will open as i have set. If i open movies from the side bar and then select the folder I want, they won't open as i have set

This could be one of the solutions; regarding more details, what part is not clear?

So funny when I realised that issue and had to spend more than 30 mins to adjust size and grid to "Most Visited" folders. We are being so "Maniac" in organising our OS environment and that's thank to Apple. But I guess they missed the point on this one. 10.6.2 at the moment and hopefully they'll fix that on the next update!
