Absolutely. I thought the same thing. The rights to use the song would have been purchased by Nissan when they made the commercial. Maybe the rights to use it run out after so many years?

Come to think of it, I think they buy rights and have to pay royalties for each time the advert is played.
Since no-one is paying royalties, song doesnt work.

What is funnier is that WMG nor Van Halen for that fact own the rights to the song. The rights are owned by The Kinks.
