Japanese is not his first language he grew up in Taiwan and was brought up by his grandma who spoke to him in a chinese dialect also know as Taiwanese. His parents had to work most of the time so he mainly spoke Taiwanese with his grandma and he did not really speak Japanese till he started school (he went to a Japanese school in Taiwan).

Yeah but as a native speaker I have to say it is a bit accented in chinese, but not a lot. Still pretty fluent nonetheless.
