America's Immorality

America's lack of a Moral Imperative has led to war crimes consisting of preemptive war, torture,bombing civilians, spying on citizens, the destruction of civil liberties including Habeas Corpus and the US Constitution. Immorality has been codified in law. After the Democratic Party victory in 2006, the Democrats continued to fund the war and voted to increase troop deployments.

Here's the truth about waging a war. Fight to win or you will fail. Ultimately, a nation needs resources to sustain it's people and if you are purchasing resources from a group of people that want you dead then you are funding their cause. We shouldn't be playing good Muslim... bad Muslim. We should take the resources of the enemies that we face so they can't fund their hatred. Until then, we are just pissing them off by killing their sons. Victory for one nation requires the defeat of another.

as always a very erudite analysis, hogan. for years i've been hoping the democratic party would collapse and be replaced by an actually liberal/left wing party. and after two humilating presidential election defeats i thought it might actually happen. and then 2006 happened. and then obama happened. now is even a worse time to be a progressive than under bush, because so many writers and pundits that i used to respect have turned into obamatons. i'm glad to see that you haven't.
