I think that people who may expect a demo not to sound rough around the edges is maybe wanting perfection where it is not needed. Just enjoy the original idea for a song that all Police fans love. It sounds amazing for a demo, and very close to the finished product.

The vocals sound very similar to the version on GITM. I do remember reading that Stewart said it was a pain in the arse to get right because they couldn't recreate the 'magic' of the demo, so they kept Sting's vocals and added their parts to them.

yep, I think most of the vocals and keyboards were kept from the demo that was recorded at Le Studio in Quebec.
