Tinton is clearly posted no trespassing. The owners of this PRIVATE property do not encourage visitation. That means ask for permission or stay out.

My family and I visited Tinton in the last 1960's. We toured a house that was still in good condition ... especially the fireplace/mantle. It had a very large flower made of native rocks ... rose quartz/petals, turquoise/leaves, etc. A couple of years later we returned, and the house was in ruins and the fireplace/mantle no longer in existence. Vandals, don't you know. We have photos to prove this. Too bad.

be very careful, the filmore mine is quite close to this property, and is watched by individuals that do get very violent with tresspassers, this land, tinton town, is privately owned and you can be shot for going on the property, be sure to bring lights and be prepared for everything

Which direction did you take to get in? I've seen a few ways, via Savoy, another book has a way in from Wyoming, via Welcome, etc...good clip though, didn't think any of it was left. is the Mill still there, or did they bring that down too?

So are all the buildings posted with no trespassing signs or can you go up to most of them and look around?
Go to Spearfish and take the Tinton rd into the hills. When you get to the lake turnoff to the right. About 2 blocks take the first left. I can't remember the road name. Stay on that road and you'll eventually come through an area where there's a few houses on each side. Stay on that road for about 5 miles and you'll come to a T. Take a left and go a few miles and you'll be there. It's about a 45 minute drive from spearfish. Wait until summer when there's not been rain for a few weeks.

NO! JUST ON THE FRONT GATE. I've been told the mining company who owns the land is bankrupt. I couldn't not find the cemetery when I was there. The hotel is more intact than the others but rapidly fading away. If you fo there make sure it's in the summer because the road is impossible to drive if it's wet even with a 4 wheel drive.
