A steam excursion from Melbourne to Albury and Culcairn in May 1967 organised by the Victorian based Association of Railway Enthusiasts. Locomotive R749 was used on the broad gauge from Melbourne to Albury and an Albury based 51 class yard pilot 5135, was used on the standard gauge to Culcairn New South Wales. There are various trains and diesel locomotives of the day glimpsed on the journey including the now long extinct Southern Aurora and the Spirit of Progress and the Intercapital Daylight express. The video is reproduced from 8mm film.

  • @GeriatricDinosaur Oh thanks. That was the first long one day steam excursion I went on. It was a really great day. Managed to catch the automatic staff exchanger catching the staff from a speeding Sydney bound interstate express freight at Gerogery too.
