2,000 Years of Chinese History! The Mandate of Heaven and Confucius:
Crash Course World History #7
In which John introduces you to quite a lot of Chinese history by
discussing the complicated relationship between the Confucian scholars
who wrote Chinese history and the emperors (and empress) who made it.
Included is a brief introduction to all the dynasties in Chinese
history and an introduction to Confucius and the Confucian emphasis on
filial piety, the role the mandate of heaven played in organizing
China, and how China became the first modern state.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the Great Wall wasn't built during the Ming, but most of the existing wall was rebuilt and maintain during the Ming. The fragments and previous walls started as far back as the Qin, but didn't last through the centuries.

(cont.) To answer your question simply, there's evidence to support the fact that the Xia dynasty existed, but no certain proof yet. So a lot of Western historians tend to say "no it didn't exist" without much thought. I personally believe it because I think it makes sense that there was a proto-dynasty linking prehistoric China to bronze-age China. Also b/c records on the Xia aren't particularly fanciful, unrealistic, or amazing. Mostly just events about fighting against barbarians & usurpers.

Many Western historians have assumed that the Xia didn't exist b/c there hasn't been certain archaeological proof of it yet. However, other historians debate that the Erlitou site that has been uncovered archaeologically & radioactively dated to the time period the Xia is purported to have existed claim that discoveries corresponding to Erlitou is actually the Xia. In 2011, they even uncovered a large palace complex 3600 years old again corresponding to Xia's time.

as far as I keep asking Mandarin speakers, they always reassure me that the "j" is pronounced just as like an English "j" so I don't know why you're pronouncing it as "chunzi."
But I don't want to sound too critical since I already commented a lot. All your other videos I've watched so far I thought were great :) It's just this one that I'm not so sure with.
