@badbadkingjohn "Senator Feingold stood up and spoke truth to power".....
Yet He lets it continue even though He has the power to reverse it....
He is a Lying Politician!
-
@echatterwa "...a truly principled and courageous progressive." Amen, amen; a giant; history may show that during these dark days such men as Senator Feingold stood up and spoke truth to power
-
Thanks for the info. If that is Progressive, then I'm all for it.
The whole bail-out 'thing' is very disturbing. It is so very interesting, also, to see the timing of dramatic decreases in gas prices.

He is a progressive, and people need to get back to the understanding of what a progressive is... it's not just another liberal..
So when we discuss progressivism, please remember it was originally Robert M. LaFollete (a republican) who split off and created the progressive view.. Fiscal conservatism, strong foreign policy, and a few liberal views comprise the progressive view... He's against the bail-out.. Some progressives tend to believe that the economy is fake as all should know..

I LOVE FEINGOLD!!!!!

I am not as liberal as Feingold but this guy is really impressive. He says and votes his conscience, no matter what the party or anyone else thinks. I can think of no other Politician about whom I can say the same.
-
Well, Feingold is as effective as he can be, but effectiveness ultimately depends on the will of other senators to cooperate.
And Wellstone, though a great progressive, wasn't any more effective than Feingold. He wasn't able to stop the Iraq war authorization from passing, and he actually voted for the Patriot Act. Would you call him the "Robin Hood of the Senate" as well?

My dearest friend "Europium" writes:-
"...I wish I had access to an IBM Blue Gene/P-Model supercomputer. At nearly 1000 teraflops, the Blue Gene could render all kinds of goodies - in parallel,..."
This beauty could run "The Entire Internet" as a minor sub-routine!
Check out Dr. Ray Kurzweil. Talk to "Ramona" she?/it? can engage in any conversation in any language on any topic.
"DIGITAL". The Military do not respond to legal restraints! Duty Forbids!
24/7/365, 360 degree scope!;-)
And I may add that Feingold advocates all of these progressive positions not as a senator from a safely blue state such as New York or Vermont, but from a swing state like Wisconsin, where Gore and Kerry each won by less than half a percentage point.
Now that's what I call a truly principled and courageous progressive.

Please check the Senate record. Feingold was the absolute staunchest opponent of the FISA bill and he led the filibuster of it. Unfortunately, the filibuster collapsed in the cloture vote by a margin of 72-26.
And before you snidely insult Feingold, please educate yourself about his Senate record. Feingold was the only member of the Senate to vote against the Patriot Act, at great risk to his political career. He has been consistently the staunchest opponent of the Iraq war,
