I am not as liberal as Feingold but this guy is really impressive. He says and votes his conscience, no matter what the party or anyone else thinks. I can think of no other Politician about whom I can say the same.

He is a progressive, and people need to get back to the understanding of what a progressive is... it's not just another liberal..

So when we discuss progressivism, please remember it was originally Robert M. LaFollete (a republican) who split off and created the progressive view.. Fiscal conservatism, strong foreign policy, and a few liberal views comprise the progressive view... He's against the bail-out.. Some progressives tend to believe that the economy is fake as all should know..

Thanks for the info. If that is Progressive, then I'm all for it.

The whole bail-out 'thing' is very disturbing. It is so very interesting, also, to see the timing of dramatic decreases in gas prices.

My dearest friend "Europium" writes:-

"...I wish I had access to an IBM Blue Gene/P-Model supercomputer. At nearly 1000 teraflops, the Blue Gene could render all kinds of goodies - in parallel,..."

This beauty could run "The Entire Internet" as a minor sub-routine!

Check out Dr. Ray Kurzweil. Talk to "Ramona" she?/it? can engage in any conversation in any language on any topic.

"DIGITAL". The Military do not respond to legal restraints! Duty Forbids!

24/7/365, 360 degree scope!;-)

And I may add that Feingold advocates all of these progressive positions not as a senator from a safely blue state such as New York or Vermont, but from a swing state like Wisconsin, where Gore and Kerry each won by less than half a percentage point.

Now that's what I call a truly principled and courageous progressive.

Yes, he's a special guy, but he's no real threat to the Neo-Con agenda. If he was as effective as Paul Wellstone he'd fly into a hillside too.

Have you been keeping track of the Obama airplane anomalies? Mechanical trouble, flying in to the wrong airport? That's funny, right?

He's the Robin Hood of the senate. His rebellion is enough to keep us contained by making us feel we're being represented. It's a role he plays very well, as you so accurately pointed out.

I'm underwhelmed.

Well, Feingold is as effective as he can be, but effectiveness ultimately depends on the will of other senators to cooperate.

And Wellstone, though a great progressive, wasn't any more effective than Feingold. He wasn't able to stop the Iraq war authorization from passing, and he actually voted for the Patriot Act. Would you call him the "Robin Hood of the Senate" as well?

(continued from last post)
Feingold was the first senator to introduce a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq, pushing the Senate to adopt timelines and to defund the war with several bills he introduced. He was the first senator to call for censure of Bush after the illegal wiretapping program was revealed. And of course, he has a 100% progressive record on economic and social issues as well. As you can see, Feingold has not only consistently voted like a true progressive, he is also a leader.

Please check the Senate record. Feingold was the absolute staunchest opponent of the FISA bill and he led the filibuster of it. Unfortunately, the filibuster collapsed in the cloture vote by a margin of 72-26.

And before you snidely insult Feingold, please educate yourself about his Senate record. Feingold was the only member of the Senate to vote against the Patriot Act, at great risk to his political career. He has been consistently the staunchest opponent of the Iraq war,
