You've got to break a few eggs

After dismissing claims that the US is torturing prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher tries to explain to the EU that occasionally the US must detain people who are innocent and happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, because if they *are* terrorists then they will kill untold scores of civilians. When members of the audience, whom I believe are part of Codepink, speak up about this... Dana Rohrbacher tells them that he hopes the next attack kills their family members. (I am paraphrasing, but you will see that in context, this is what he meant.)

My blood boils to listen to this man speak, and I only hope that the EU members at this debate are aware there are still rational human beings in our country that are as concerned about the treatment of Guantanamo detainees as they are.

Luckily Mardish and you others aren't the ones in charge of things in the USA or we'd all be fucked. You have to look at the big picture, hoping for terrorism to fall on naysayers families isn't nice, but it doesn't change the gist of what he said. And it's right on target.

Rohrabacher and other Republicans don't give a shit about terrorism, because they know it isn't a serious threat. If they did, our ports and borders would have been secured. In 2002. Republicans are only interested in keeping and abusing power. That is what the threat of terrorism is all about; keeping people afraid, so that they will turn to Republicans for protection. Even if terrorism was a threat, Republicans obviously don't give a shit: their priority after 9/11 was to invade Iraq.
